At Summerhill we understand that the transition from Primary School to Secondary School can be quite a daunting process. Summerhill will ensure that we make that transition as smooth and as stress free as possible by mapping out the process. At each stage we will communicate the point that we are at and the next steps forward.
We will know all about your sons and daughters before they start at Summerhill. Visiting their Primary Schools, having Induction Days/Evenings and Summer School will be just the basics of us finding out all about our new students (there are a lot of fun things we do as well….but we don’t want to spoil the surprise!). All new students will get to meet the key staff within the school, Tutors, House Teams, Headteacher, Well-being Team and many more and spend time getting to know them, so on arrival in September they are comfortable with their new surroundings.
A highlight of the transition process will be the House allocation day when your sons/daughters will find out which of our four amazing Houses they will be in, and the colour tie they will wear. It is done in a special way!
