As part of the National Year of Reading 2026, Summerhill School has created the Summerhill Reading Laureate Award. Throughout the year, students are invited to take part in 26 challenges to motivate and encourage a love of reading, utilise the school library and develop a strong reading culture in and outside of school. Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond award levels create varying challenges, with students being award along their journey.
Those who completed their Bronze level award in a record time were invited to the Dudley Children’s Book Award Ceremony, where students had a fantastic opportunity to meet some fabulous authors.
Students who have completed the Silver level award will receive a commemorative metal bookmark, each individually numbered and unique.
