Reading Champions
Introducing our Year 10 Reading Champions!
Reading Champions are an integral part of our reading strategy at Summerhill. Each Champion was selected for their high level of reading ability and fantastic attitude to learning.
The main role of a Reading Champion is to support younger students by listening to them read each week during DEAR time. By listening to students read, asking questions and giving positive feedback, they help them develop their skills, self-esteem and love of reading.

You can support your child’s reading by using some of the strategies in our Reading Champion Handbook. You’ll find useful questions to ask before, during and after reading, plus ideas on how to give feedback when listening to a child reading aloud.
