Wider Perspectives has been developed and introduced from September 2019 and is delivered to Year 7 & 8 once per week to extend the scope of the curriculum. The intent is to teach topics that are of contextual importance or are not currently taught in line with the national curriculum in other subjects in order to provide students with the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life and skills for future learning and employment.
You can see the Wider Perspectives Learning Journey to get a flavour of what the students will be learning about and studying over the two years.
Further development of this subject is the intent of additional curriculum time to focus on numeracy and literacy skills. Tasks are centred on the core principal of developing and reinforcing skills required to access greater content in all subjects. Wider Perspectives is therefore designed to further develop and provide students with the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life.
Wider Perspectives has been developed to align and support the schools core purpose of CARE, with content designed to drive these values.
