Summerhill School

Draco Charity Week

Evie Gameson, reporting on a cause dear to us all

Summerhill School has always been known for its outstanding commitment and upmost support for charities, whether it is in the local area or world wide, we are constantly finding ways to provide for others.  But, in these new and upcoming events, a whole week will be spent collecting and donating money towards the house charities. The dragons of Draco were privileged to start this chain of events.

Winston’s Wish is a charity which devotes its time to support grieving children: this is Draco's charity.  To kick start their fundraising, they opened a delicious bake sale, which was followed by a mufti day where students could wear their own clothes (with house colours of course) for a small donation. Next up Mr Bull lent a hand by hosting a spectacular game of “bingo!” and as the week concluded an awesome staff vs Key Stage 4 netball game was held. The most notable event of the week was the whole of Draco house being serenaded by Mr Glattback’s singing and fabulous guitar playing skills as he performed Don’t Look Back in Anger by Oasis in their weekly assembly.  The Draco students and staff put in all effort possible and raised an amazing £861.63!
