Careers

Careers provision at Summerhill School is rapidly improving. As well as a wide range of events throughout the year, including Post 16 Careers and Higher Education evening, visiting speakers, off site visits and workshops, we also have access to an independent Connexions Careers Advisor.

Our school Connexions advisor, Wendy Lowe provides impartial information advice and guidance on a wide range of topics that affect young people. She can help you when making choices about your careers, education and training, finding you your ideal job and helping you write a CV. She can also offer help with exam stress, money and health and things to do in your free time that will develop your social skills.

If your son / daughter would like an individual Connexions meeting please ask them to see Mr Wollerton, Assistant Head Teacher / Careers Lead in the House Office or Mr Morgan in the Learning Centre to request an appointment. Mr Wollerton is available for informal discussions regarding career pathways before school, at breaktime and after school in the House Office.

If you are still unsure about what you want to do for a career, don't worry many people are well into their adult years before they set out on their chosen career path.  However to help you why not try the careers quiz using the link below.

Ofsted 2018 reported that:

The well-planned careers education programme makes a good contribution to pupils’ personal development. Pupils have a good understanding about careers and the various options that may be open to them in the future. Careers education also contributes to the strong attitudes to learning, which most pupils display.
