Wednesday 21^st March was Down Syndrome Day.  After Year Eight student Jessica Jennings informed the school about the event, heads of houses and form tutors were asked to spread the word to their pupils.

Down’s syndrome or Trisomy 21, is a genetic disorder caused by there being three of chromosome 21, rather than two.  People who have Down’s syndrome could typically suffer from physical growth delays, characteristic facial features and some degree of learning disability.

To celebrate Down Syndrome Day and raise awareness of this condition, we were encouraged to wear odd socks to school.  The day was very successful and lots of the school participated, students and teachers!

We are all unique and different.  World Down Syndrome Day was a great occasion to celebrate this.
